Swim:ED Making a Splash in Wiltshire with GB Olympian Visit

school swimming

We’ve been making a splash in Wiltshire, quite literally, with the successful launch of the Swim:ED programme at Dilton Marsh Primary School, the very first school to host our portable pool and pioneering approach to primary swimming.

The Swim:ED programme has made an incredible impact at Dilton Marsh and this week we had a very special visitor to help us celebrate that success, Team GB Olympic swimmer Calum Jarvis MBE! Calum joined us at poolside to see the programme in action, meet the pupils and staff and chat with us about the importance of early swimming intervention in schools.

“I’m honestly blown away by the Swim:ED programme and the difference it’s going to make in building young people’s confidence. It’s not just about learning to swim, it’s about helping kids feel strong, capable and safe in the water, especially those who might never have had the chance before. Seeing a programme like this that focuses on giving young people the tools to believe in themselves is incredibly inspiring. Swim:ED is creating real change by showing kids that they can do hard things and that kind of confidence stays with them far beyond the pool.”

Also sharing in the celebrations was Headteacher Jude Clements, who welcomed the pool and the Swim:ED team into the heart of her school community. Jude has seen first-hand the confidence, progress and enthusiasm the children have developed through this unique approach to school swimming.

“Swim:ED has been transformational for our school community. The children grew in confidence with their daily lessons and were eager to embrace new challenges in their learning. Swim:ED provides assessments for all the children which has informed planning and next steps. What is there not to like?”

From Showcase to Next School

We also hosted a Swim:ED Showcase Day last week, giving schools a chance to come and see the programme live in action. The energy, excitement and progress in the water were clear for all to see and the feedback has been fantastic. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Our next stop? Chapmanslade Primary School, where the pool has just been built in preparation for lessons to begin next week! We’re proud to be reaching more schools and more pupils with this high-quality, accessible swimming offer and we’ve got just 4 slots left for the 2025 calendar. If your school is interested in securing a space, now’s the time to act.

Drowning Prevention Week: Teaching Lifesaving Skills

Last week was also Drowning Prevention Week and we’re proud to be doing our bit. At Swim:ED, it’s not just about swimming strokes, it’s about water safety, confidence and lifesaving skills. Pupils at Dilton Marsh focused on learning how to stay safe in and around water, including safe entry and exit, floating and basic self-rescue techniques.

This is swimming with purpose, tackling the national curriculum requirements and supporting every child to develop vital skills that could save their life.
