- Part-Time employment, 10-15 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, term-time only
- After-School Club: 15:00–17:00
- Future hours: Breakfast Club to be introduced from September 2026
- Pay: £14.46 – £15.13 per hour (including holiday pay and dependent on experience)
- Minimum Age: Applicants must be 18+

About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Childcare Assistant to join our team at Bulford St Leonard’s Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity to support a well-established and growing wraparound care provision, with increasing demand for both breakfast and after-school club places.
Working closely with the Childcare Leader, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the provision, helping to deliver a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where children can relax, socialise and take part in enjoyable activities outside of the school day.
Initially, the role will focus on supporting the after-school club, with the opportunity to expand into breakfast club provision from September 2026, as the service continues to grow. This makes it an ideal role for someone looking for a position with the potential for additional hours and development.
You’ll support with setting up activities, encouraging participation in creative and active play, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and building strong relationships with children, families and school staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Childcare Leader with the set-up, delivery and pack-down of sessions
- Help create a warm, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all children
- Engage children in a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities (e.g. games, crafts, creative play)
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, school staff and colleagues
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all children in the club
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and behaviour policies at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children, paid or voluntary (preferred)
- A caring, positive and can‑do attitude
- Someone dependable, approachable and happy to get stuck in
- A relevant childcare, play work or teaching assistant qualification (desirable, but not essential)
- Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding qualifications (desirable - training can be provided)
- The ability to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate
